Hump Day Report: Going For The Gold With A Left Jab

ALOHA, ALL!!  The Olympics are in full swing.  A time when athletes from around the world compete in numerous sports against the best competitors in existence.  It’s a time to cheer for your home country and to put politics aside.  What’s that you say?  Politics?  It turns out this year the powers-that-be who are in charge of the London games decided to take advantage of the huge audience watching the opening ceremonies.  And they put in a plug for their wonderful, marvelous National Health Service.  Frankly, it was bizarre:  Americans Left Baffled By Tribute To NHS  But thinking about it now, it was interesting how the kids all snug in their tidy little hospital beds were plagued with dreams of demons.  And it took a private enterprising figure (Mary Poppins) to rescue them.  Those demons are headed to our shores:  ObamaCare’s 7 Tax Hikes On Under $250,000-A-Year Earners  and 83% Of Doctors Have Considered Quitting Over Obamacare  But I don’t think Mary Poppins can help us.  We need Mitt Romney and we need GOP control of both Houses of Congress!

And this 😉 (Shaka to Cindy):  The International Olympic Committee announced today that it has taken back the gold medal previously awarded to American skier Lindsey Vonn and given it to U.S. President Barack Obama. Olympic officials said Obama deserved the medal more than Vonn because no one has ever gone downhill faster than he has.

Looks like Queen Michelle wasn’t going to be outdone by real royals.  Michelle Obama Sports $6800 Jacket To London Soiree  “The jacket cost more than the average American family makes in a month ($4,284).  And, she does this as Americans continue to suffer through a deep recession and record unemployment.  Michelle feels your pain.”

Romney broo-ha-ha overblown.  It’s No ‘Gaffe’ – Romney Knows How To Fix A Ruined Olympics  “He deferred his own salary, froze everyone else’s and cut free lunches for board members, making them buy their own pizza. And he forced International Olympic Committee members, who’d been lavished with bribes earlier, to stay in modest hotels.”  Ah….no wonder they went after him!

And maybe Romney was right.  Empty Seats Have Organizers Scrambling, Giving Away Tickets  “Following the embarrassing images of unfilled seats, a resale system was introduced over the weekend whereby people leaving an event early can return tickets that can later be sold to people already in the Olympic Park. On Saturday, nearly 300 tickets for handball were recycled this way.”  Hmmm….I don’t remember having this problem at the Salt Lake City games – that Romney ran – right after 9/11.  Just sayin’.

Knock me over with a feather.  Colorado Shooter ID’d As Part Of Occupy New York  “A photo from October 2011 has now surfaced of an Occupy New York protester being carried away by police that appears to be James Holmes. A private investigator from Kellerman Investigations has named the protester in this photo as being Holmes, and a website called Godlike Productions has a post where facial recognition software was used, comparing the photo from 2011 with Holmes’ “Joker” photo posted days before the massacre on his “Adult Friend” profile.”

GOOD news!  Obama Blamed For Failure Of International Arms Trade Treaty  “The United Nations indefinitely suspended action on an international arms trade treaty Friday after the United States and several other countries asked for more time.”  Good news on two count:  1) the treaty is suspended (for now) and 2) Barry gets blamed.

ICYMI (and I know you did since it was never reported until now).  Obama Cancelled bin Laden Kill Raid 3 Times At Jarrett’s Urging  “In ”Leading From Behind: The Reluctant President and the Advisors Who Decide for Him,“ Richard Miniter writes that Obama canceled the “kill” mission in January 2011, again in February, and a third time in March. Obama’s close adviser Valerie Jarrett persuaded him to hold off each time, according to the book.”
