HDR 168: Obama MIA On Energy Independence

ALOHA, ALL!!  Did you hear that loud sucking sound?  Barry just decided to tap into the Strategic Petroleum Reserve.  That’s right…30 million barrels were authorized for release on Thursday.  What’s that….why not drill here, you said?  Ah – good question!  It’s all part of the plan to make us MORE (not less) dependent on other energy sources.  Instead of promoting policies that will keep us from expensive alternative energy and/or relying on enemies for oil, this administration is keeping us subservient.  I participated in an interesting conference call yesterday with Reps Cathy McMorris Rodgers (WA), Kevin McCarthy (CA), and Steve Scalise (LA). Sidenote:  they’re all “Rs” so need to even mention that. Did you know that the Republicans in Congress passed three energy bills last week alone?  Check out the Jobs and Energy Permitting Act – it opens up Alaska and would create 50,000 jobs:  House moves on domestic energy bill  It also would add 1 million barrels of oil a day – OUR oil –  to the supply.  A few more facts:  the “Permitorium” on drilling in the Gulf has killed 13,000 jobs in that region and caused 1 dozen oil rigs to leave this country.  Where did they go?  Places like Brazil and Africa….even Egypt!  HUH????  So even with the unrest in Egypt the oil companies would rather do business there than in the U.S.  WHAT’S WRONG WITH THIS PICTURE?????  Hey Barry – stop campaigning and start leading!!!!  Obama Tapping Emergency Oil Reserve to Make Up for Shortage From Libya

Wal-Mart doesn’t hate women:  Independent Women’s Forum – Wal-Mart Decision: A Victory for Women  “Although it’s being spun as a “blow to women,” Monday’s decision confirms that discrimination lawsuits must be narrow and relevant – and that trial lawyers can’t terrorize companies in search of a big payday. That kind of message benefits all Americans.”

More on IPAB (Indepedent Payment Advisory Board):  Independent Women’s Forum – Careful what you tell… your doctor?  “Before the Obama health law, patients who voluntarily bought insurance shared information with their insurer. Now, government regulators will have access to oversee physician compliance.”  Kiss your medical privacy goodbye!

ICYMI:  Delta adopts Saudi ‘no-Jew’ fly policy  “Delta Air Lines’ plan to add Saudi Arabian Airlines to its SkyTeam Alliance of partnering companies would require the American carrier to ban Jews and holders of Israeli passports from boarding flights from New York or Washington bound for Jeddah, prompting outraged accusations of illegal religious discrimination.”  I’m sure Hitler would be welcomed with open burkas.

POOP (Particulars of 0bama’s Presidency):  Restricting Food Ads Aimed at Kids Will Harm ‘Multiple Sectors of Economy,’ Advertisers Say  “The advertising industry is sounding an alarm about the Obama administration’s “voluntary” guidelines for marketing breakfast cereals, snacks, soda and other sugary and salty food products to children. The guidelines, issued in April, could be harmful to multiple sectors of the economy, said Dan Jaffe, executive vice president of the Association of National Advertisers.”

Depends what your definition of “voluntary” is.  Obama’s NLRB Pushes “Snap Elections” for Union Gain   “Obama’s National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) has been aggressively reinterpreting the law to foist unions on workers—whether they want them or not. The Board famously filed charges against Boeing for creating jobs at a nonunion plant in South Carolina. Today the Board announced its most aggressive move yet: snap elections.”  Unions are running scared, and they should be.  Despite having their Thug-in-Chief as POTUS, they are losing ground.  Here’s some good news out of New Jersey:  N.J. HDR 167: The Light Bulb Goes Off

"See ya later, kid"

ALOHA, ALL!!  Do you have any 100 watt light bulbs?  If so, keep them because they will soon be collectors’ items.  In fact, each time I go to the store I think I’ll buy a package….they will be very valuable in the future!  In spite of all the proof that much of the global warming “science” is a bunch of hooey, the ban on 100 watt bulbs is still set to begin in January 2012.  It’s called the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007 (oh yeah, that’s when Nancy Nitwit was in charge.)  Never mind that compact fluorescent bulbs are costly and difficult to dispose of.  In fact, my 90-year-old Mom is so worried about this that she asked me last week, “why can’t I just buy the light bulbs I want?”   Good question, Mom.   Republicans Flicker On Light Bulb Ban Repeal – Common American Journal  Here’s another question:  how many politicians does it take to screw in a light bulb? Apparently, none of them can handle such a difficult task.  But they sure know how to screw us.

Project Gunrunner casualty.  Acting ATF Director to Resign Over Gun-Buying Sting  “Kenneth Melson, the acting director of the Bureau of Tobacco, Alcohol and Firearms (ATF), is expected to step down in the wake of the “Fast and Furious” gun-running scheme in which weapons were sold to Mexico’s drug cartels.  Melson, who has been acting director since April 2009, is likely to resign within the next couple of days, says CNN.”  Can Holder be next?  One can only hope.  (Thanks to Lee for the link.)

And here’s why Eric Holder needs to go:  Issa: DOJ Covering Up on Mexican Gun-Running Scandal | CNSnews.com   “Issa says he does not believe Attorney General Eric Holder testified accurately in the Judiciary Committee on May 3, when he told Issa (who also serves on that committee) that he had only learned of the gun-running operation—called “Operation Fast and Furious”–a few weeks before that.”

But it’s not a war.  Airmen, sailors in Libya receiving “imminent danger pay” despite WH claim of no legal “hostilities” « Hot Air  “So no one’s in danger in Libya — and yet, according to the Pentagon, the men there are in enough danger to warrant extra pay each month for participating in combat. Which is to say, it is a war. It’s just not … a war-war.”

POOP (Particulars of 0bama’s Presidency):  This one has to do with 0bamacare and the IPAB (independent Payment Advisory Board.)  IPAB is a group of 15 presidential appointed bureaucrats who are charged with reducing Medicare costs.  And you don’t think there will be rationing?  Read here:  Travesty of Lawmaking – Opinion – PatriotPost.US

The very definition of useful idiot – This is former Rep Cynthia McKinney appearing on Libyan TV.  I think she should just stay there, since she likes it so much:

Barry’s “Firsts”:  President Barack Obama’s Complete List of Historic Firsts | US Opinion and Editorial Right Side News  A pretty good list. I might add “First usurping Marxist to be elected President of the United States.”

Boise, China.  Barbarians Within the Gate – Common American Journal  “China is now building a 50 square-mile self-sustaining city outside of Boise, Idaho and setting up Foreign Trade Zones in the US.”  HUH?????  What the heck is going on??????

Maybe China should buy all of California.  60 more firms move jobs, work out of California – Orange County Register  “So far this year, the departures average 5.4 a week, compared to 3.9 a week in 2010 and one a week in 2009, Vranich says.”
