“It wasn’t a negotiation; it was a discussion trying to lead to a negotiation.”  I just heard Rep Jeb Hensarling on Sean Hannity’s show discussing the meeting GOP leaders had with Obama tonight.  It doesn’t sound like much has changed.  Maybe Obama is open to talking about how to get past this shutdown and debt ceiling impasse?  We’ll see.  I’m not holding my breath.

The other day I was driving past the Iwo Jima Memorial on the Kaneohe Marine Base.  It’s an amazing sight – an exact replica of the Marine Memorial in Washington DC.  So imagine the backdrop of mountains and a beautiful bay in the background, and you’ll be able to picture the one at KBay.  It’s a stunning reminder to be thankful to all those who have paid the ultimate price to keep us free. We honor them this Memorial Day weekend.
