Ukraine – Why You Should Care

PutinThe world is blowing up, most notably the former Soviet Socialist Republic known as the Ukraine is disintegrating before our eyes.  The eastern part of the country identifies with Russia while the western part wants to be part of the EU.  One thing’s for sure:  Obama has no clue how to deal with it.

Carl Writes:

As happened, here is raw video of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. These first choppers are likely carrying elite Spetsnaz troops (estimated at 500 hundred of a larger invasion force). As US news catches up with coverage on this story over the weekend, they will be the guys with the faces covered to avoid detection and recognition. Ruthless doesn’t do the word justice with these guys.

A much larger contingent of (125,000) Russian forces are poised just over the border. And CNN does a ‘good job’ of helping make this charade into a civil rights battle. But that is another day.

The best parallel for this could be 1938, and the German invasion of the Sudentenland.
Russia military UkraineSince taking office, Obama and Hillary Clinton have dismantled the nuclear deterrent around Poland and The Baltics that was envisioned under Reagan.
The US missile defense complex in Poland, also called the European Interceptor Site (EIS), was part of the Ballistic Missile Defense European Capability of the US. The value of such a deterrent became much clearer on August 14, 2008 when Russia invaded 2008 South Ossetia. Who Said That???

For all we see on TV and in papers, few nailed the events of the last week better than the person quoted below.

“After the Russian Army invaded the nation of Georgia, Senator Obama’s reaction was one of indecision and moral equivalence, the kind of response that would only encourage Russia’s Putin to invade Ukraine next.”  (*Scroll down to see who this was.)

Oh yeah…remember how Mitt Romney was called out by Obama during the Presidential campaign as being stuck back in the Cold War?  This video is truly revealing when viewed with today’s eyes.

Romney was right about a lot of things (Shaka to Scott):

Conservatives Must Support Freedom for Ukraine

Obama Skips National Security Team Meeting on Russia.Ukraine

Kerry:  That ‘Re-Set’ Thing With Russia was a Long Time Ago

WaPo:  ‘President Obama’s Foreign Policy is Based on Fantasy’

God Bless America – Pass This On!!

I don’t know how accurate this is, but I just heard Putin will expand beyond Crimea. More proof we have a President who aspires to mere incompetence and who apparently has long confused the KGB with Honolulu TV station KMGB.

The really unforgivable thing here is that apparently our government was surprised. Why? No one else was. Putin was never going going to give up Sevastopol, any more than any other Tsar was. Neither is he going to give up the oil and gas pipelines that go through Ukraine.

Lords Raglan and Cardigan couldn’t hold the place either, and we ain’t got Lord Tennyson to write about it.

If the EU wants Ukraine, the EU better be ready to fight for it. The really stupid thing was B. Clinton forcing Ukraine to give up the old Soviet nukes, that was the only real, effective deterrent to the Russians. And remember the Ukraine has always been Russia’s breadbasket. Eastern Ukraine is sympathetic to Russia because they are mostly Russian colonists who migrated there after Stalin starved the Kulaks.

This is one of those place where, no matter who the president is, we can’t win, and so shouldn’t play. Hungary in 1956 comes to mind.

There are things we could do though NEO if we had a strong President. We could put strong monetary pressure on Russia, but Barry will never do that. Remember, he told Putin he would have more flexibility after being elected a second time. Putin has his boot on Obama’s skinny little punk neck.

      • NEO says :

        That’s very true, Gilia.

I just don’t think short of a serious war we could do enough to deter him-from the Crimea, the rest of Ukraine maybe but also remember we’ve got 33K troops whose supply line runs through Russia and two Astronauts as well.

We’re basically screwed on this one.

And all because Putin knows he can get away with it. YES HE CAN!!!!!

      • NEO says :

        He can indeed !!!
