‘I’m Pro-Choice And Pro-Life’

That’s how I always answer the question when I’m asked if I support a woman’s right to choose…abortion. The questioner then looks at me strangely, at which point I explain that I am in complete support of a woman’s choice to not get pregnant, but once she does she IS carrying another life.  It’s funny to see the expressions on people’s faces.  And they usually don’t say anything else after that.  Since Wednesday marked the 41st anniversary of Roe v. Wade, I thought I’d focus on the abortion issue.

And this from the article sums things up perfectly:

The ultimate question isn’t actually about religion or faith, but whether one human being has the right to kill another for the sake of convenience — which indeed would present a huge problem if considered under the terms of the 14th Amendment and equal protection under the law. So far, we’ve killed 55 million human lives on the scientifically ignorant premise that either they’re not really human or they’re not really alive, or the ethically bankrupt notion that one human life isn’t as important as another and can be tossed away when inconvenient. That’s the actual issue at stake in today’s March for Life.

Then there’s ‘Abortion Barbie’ – Wendy Davis….You know – the Texas state Senator who ranted about allowing abortions after 20 weeks and now wants to be the Governor.  She became a Democrat darling and ‘rising star’ overnight.  Now,not so much.

DavisAnd just like all Barbies, she had her Ken:

According to Jeffrey Davis, Wendy Davis left him the day after he finished paying for her education. “I made the last payment, and it was the next day she left,” Jeffry Davis said.

Good article! I trust you’re familiar with Dr. Alveda King. If you’re not familiar with Dr. King, the niece of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. In summarizing her stance on abortion, she starts by saying:

“In the ongoing travesty of the debate over whether abortion … should be condoned, a voice in the wilderness continues to cry out, ‘what about the children?‘ We have been fueled by the fire of ‘women’s rights‘ so long that we have become deaf to the outcry of the real victims whose rights are being trampled upon, the babies and the mothers. Of course a woman has a right to decide what to do with her own body. Thank God for the Constitution. Yet, she also has a right to know the serious consequences and repercussions of making a decision to abort her child. Then too, what about the rights of each baby who is artificially breached before coming to term in his or her mother’s womb?“

Thanks for posting this, Gary. What’s lost in all the pro-abortion talk is why Planned Parenthood was such a strong proponent to begin with….to keep the numbers of ‘Negroes’ small. A fact that’s lost in today’s ‘women’s rights’ talk. And you blog post was excellent. I especially liked this: “Rather than calling themselves pro-abortion, abortion advocates prefer the euphemism pro-choice. That begs the question, what choice are they in favor of?”

In reality, since anti-abortion advocates are ‘pro-life’ doesn’t that make abortion advocates ‘pro-death’?

Thank you so much for this! That’s a great take on the term “pro-choice”. You speak for so many voices. And reading pieces like this really remind me that Truth will never die.

I also wanted to share this recent piece on putting an end to abortion euphemisms; may it also encourage you: http://karenwriteshere.com/2014/01/23/enough-with-the-endless-abortion-euphemisms/

Excellent post, karenzai! Pro-abortionists like to use such euphemisms to stir up ‘righteousness.’ Yet they fail to give the most innocent their rights.

Bravo GiliaR, an issue often avoided. It’s too bad that abortion IS killing another human being, but it is, so it is. King Solomon would know what choice to make and for what reason… as should we.

    • giliar says :

Thanks, mrethman. So-called ‘pro-choice’ advocates like to say that the issue isn’t ‘black and white.” Frankly, it is. If a physician can be sued for causing harm to an unborn child yet a woman can choose to end that child’s life and not face any legal consequences, something’s not right. Life begins at conception.
