Friday Foibles

Although Independence Day 2013 is now over, it’s  a long holiday weekend.  So let’s take time to reflect on that most American of holidays and the events of this past week.  A lot happened….

Morsi’s Gone –  Egypt:  Now What?  “Secularists and Coptic Christians are celebrating, and insisting to a Western press that has been as indefatigably pro-Muslim Brotherhood as Barack Obama that this is not a military coup, but a revolution, a true people’s revolution as the “Arab Spring” that toppled Mubarak was supposed to be.”

And Speaking of The “Religion of Peace”…

ObamaCare DOA?  Mounting Pressure, Looking Deadline Led To Surprise Employer Mandate Delay  “We definitely did not expect this,” said Judith Thorman, senior vice president of government relations and public policy at the International Franchise Association.  And Ten ObamaCare Fumbles  And So Which Part of ObamaCare Works Then?

It’s The Mail Too:  US Postal Service Logging All Mail For Law Enforcement   “At the request of law enforcement officials, postal workers record information from the outside of letters and parcels before they are delivered. (Opening the mail would require a warrant.) The information is sent to the law enforcement agency that asked for it. Tens of thousands of pieces of mail each year undergo this scrutiny.”

Someplace this morning I saw a quote from King Barack I about how we need to remember why we threw the Brits out. I think he’s got the story wrong, I think we know, and he might want to study that a bit himself.

How did we ever survive without Bill Whittle by the way?

Carl’s right, Benghazi is a totally unpredictable storm now-Sirocco come to mind.

Republicans want to talk to Col. George Bristol about Benghazi
Colonel George Bristol, outgoing commander, addresses the audience during the Change of Command Ceremony for the Joint Special Operations Task Force-Trans Sahara (JSOTF-TS), AFRICOM, on April 16, 2012, at Kelley Barracks, Vaihingen, Germany.

Marine Corps Col. George Bristol was in a key position in the U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM) chain of command the night of the Sept. 11, 2012, attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Libya. As such, he’s high on the list of people that some Republican members of Congress want to interview. But they don’t know where he is and the Pentagon isn’t telling.

Like the vortex of a midwestern tornado, the issue of the Benghazi cover-up is moving headlong into the storm center of Egypt. Together, they represent a terrible wind. One of these may well eventually bring down he Not-So-Great Pretender.
