Hump Day Report: Happy Bill of Rights Day!
ALOHA, ALL!! Hubby reminded me that today is Bill of Rights Day. Following is an email he sent out to his contact list today. I thought HDR readers would benefit from it as well. (BTW….I changed all the capital “Os” in Barry’s name to zeros. So that’s my contribution.)
Fly your U.S. flag today! I’m sure that all know that the Bill of Rights are the first ten amendments to the U.S. Constitution, ratified by the states and made part of the Constitution 220 years ago today in 1791. Understanding the Constitution is critical to understanding where our nation has been, where we might be headed and where 0bama fits into the mix. What still motivates obama is that obama, in his role as a Lecturer and Senior Lecturer in Constitutional Law at the University of Chicago’s law school often liked to point out what he considered shortcomings to the Constitution, most notably that the Constitution was a charter of negative liberties (that is, restricting government) rather than (what he thought better as do all Marxist thinkers) a charter of “positive liberties,” IOW a list of things government is required to do for its people. One can think of 0bama’s “positive liberties” as financial and similar entitlements — a word much in play these days but was not even considered by the Founders who lived in a era where freedom was paramount in the context of a representative government [for a people previously oppressed by government (Britain)] with intentionally limited scope and powers over its citizens. This video is instructive regarding the fundamental rub between positive and negative liberties:

Or listen to obama in his own words describe his fondness for what is (yeah, I know some of you don’t like the word) the Marxist principles he’d prefer be mandated by a “better” Constitution. (Oh, and you’ll get to see Senior Lecturer obama lecturing Joe Wurzelbacher at the end of the video.)
Similar arguments occur in 0bama’s second autobiography, The Audacity of Hope (a title he got from a Jeremiah “God-damn-America” Wright sermon, btw). Oh, and as an aside, have you read 0bama’s two quasi-autobiographies? The first is well written and easily read, the second is turgid, almost as if one or both where “ghosted” by someone else. But that’s another topic…. (thanks to Hubby for the post. Looking forward to his thoughts on this other topic.) 😉
GOD BLESS AMERICA – PASS THIS ON – REMEMBER IN 2012!!
