Hump Day Report: Obama Cuts Off Nose

Did Barry/Barack just cut off his nose to spite his face, shoot himself in the foot, or (ala the OWS crowd) even jump the shark? As you know, he decided to “delay” building the Keystone XL pipeline until after the 2012 election. This was an obvious political move on Barry’s part to appease the environmental nut jobs of his constituency. But guess what? Big labor now isn’t happy with Barry/Barack. Poor, poor Barry – that’s what happens when you put your own agenda ahead of what’s best for the country. Check out these comments from big labor bosses:

“The State Department’s unprecedented decision to backtrack its own conclusions contained in the Final Environmental Impact Statement suggests a troubling political calculus, which ignores the merits of the project. With the authority to create approximately 20,000 construction and other jobs with the stroke of a pen, at a time with the unemployment rate in construction is the highest of any sector, the Administration missed a major opportunity to employ members of the IUOE and other unions. Because of the unique authority your Administration possessed to create jobs almost immediately, without congressional action or a dime of public investment, this decision will reverberate throughout the membership of the Operating Engineers.”

–Vincent Giblin, President, International Union of Operating Engineers

“The President’s decision to wait until the 11th hour only gives credibility to the argument that his decision was one of political expediency, rather than a decision based on facts and the national interest. Approval of this project by the Administration would have been a lifeline for thousands of American workers. This delay may mean that the project will not go forward and thousands of jobs will be lost in the U.S. construction industry which continues to suffer unemployment rates approaching twice the national average.”

–Mark Ayers, President, AFL-CIO Building and Construction Trades Department

“Environmentalists formed a circle around the White House and within days the Obama Administration chose to inflict a potentially fatal delay to a project that is not just a pipeline, but is a lifeline for thousands of desperate working men and women. The Administration chose to support environmentalists over jobs – job-killers win, American workers lose. Environmental groups from the Natural Resources Defense Council to the Sierra Club may be dancing in the streets, having delayed and possibly stopped yet another project that would put men and women back to work. While they celebrate, pipeline workers will continue to lose their homes and livelihoods. We had hoped the decision would have been made on the basis of economics, facts and the best interests of the nation, not on the basis of a political calculation.”

–Laborers’ International Union of North America

So let’s see: will they be more or less inclined to vote for the Appeaser-in-Chief in 2012? Oh yeah….Canada announced that the oil the U.S. would have received from the project will now be sold to Asia. Thanks, Barry – your incompetence is stellar!

And Defense Secretary Leon Panetta is vocally warning that if Israeli acts against Iran, the price of oil could rock the rest of the world. And tell me again, what has the U.S. done to escape being held hostage by the dirtbags in SW Asia?

The sad thing is that 40+% of our fellow-citizens don’t see Barry for the lie-telling, politically opportunistic and tacit Marxist that he is.

  2. raysrope says :

Environmentalists trump Unions in the pecking order.
But neither will vote him out because they both know which side their bread is buttered on.
TOTCO (The One They Call Obama) is very adept at burning the candle at both ends.
As evidenced by his three years in office.

Wish I could clear my mind of the thoughts that the pipeline death was not just another link in our leaders agenda to make America energy poor. These incidents fall in line with his expressed purpose to tax and regulate the coal industry out of business and his precipitous action to halt offshore drilling. Is it just me or is there a pattern emerging?

It’s not just you, George. 0bama’s plan from the beginning was to “totally transform this country,” and to make “energy prices necessarily sky-rocket” under a Cap & Trade plan. His Cap & Trade debacle failed, so now he’s doing all he can to stymie traditional energy production in this country. Yes, I’m angry at him for what he’s doing to the country. But I’m more angry at the idiots who still support him and will vote for him again. The demise of the United States is at their hands.
