HDR 180: Cathy McMorris Rodgers – A Determined Warrior

Brave Warriors - Both Fighting For Our Country

ALOHA, ALL!!  Forget Wonder Woman or Xena.  Cathy McMorris Rodgers is a modern-day female warrior and one of the hardest working members of Congress.  But she still has time to talk to those for whom she works.  I had the opportunity to speak with her on Skype the other day – just me and the Representative….one-on-one.  What a dynamic and dedicated individual she is!  We talked about the Cut Cap and Balance Bill that passed the House, what it means and what might be next.  Here’s a brief recap:

Rep McMorris Rodgers is proud of the vote and the fact that it had bi-partisan support.  She emphasized that House Republicans are committed to protecting the USA’s AAA rating.  When I asked her what might be the next steps if CCB doesn’t pass the Senate, she replied that top priority now is to build support for CCB in the Senate.  She stated, “The American people expect us to change course – does the President recognize this?”  We also discussed the various plans introduced in recent days (see below for more info).  She explained how CCB is the only viable plan to balance the budget – the Senate doesn’t have a plan nor does the President.  I ended the conversation asking her, “what  would be your number one priority as a member of Congress?”  She said, “Ever since I became a member of Congress, my first priority has been to pass a balanced budget amendment.  If I could wave a magic wand, that’s what I’d do.  Both parties have proven they don’t have the courage to live within their means.”  I could have spent much longer talking with her, but I thanked her for her time, especially during this busy session of Congress.  I was left with the impression that Rep McMorris Rodgers won’t quit until she reaches that goal of a balanced budget amendment….her number one priority.  So when you start feeling defeated, know that there are some amazing people working for us, and that they won’t throw in the towel anytime soon.  They won’t give up the fight!

What are all these budget plans?  Confused?  Here are some links:

Sebelius stonewalls on “Death Panels.”  Independent Women’s Forum – HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius Avoids Real Answers on “Death Panel” for seniors  “Earlier this week at an IPAB hearing called by GOP House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan (R-WI), HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius had a tough time answering questions from Ryan and other GOP lawmakers about IPAB’s mission and goals. In the same week that her boss President Obama blithely and incorrectly stated that America’s seniors may not receive their Social Security checks on August 3, Sebelius was only able to punt on critical IPAB questions, and completely avoid others.”

Good enough for government work.  Some federal workers more likely to die than lose jobs – USATODAY.com  HUD spokesman Jerry Brown says his department’s low dismissal rate — providing a 99.85% job security rate for employees — shows a skilled and committed workforce. “We’ve never focused on firing people, and we don’t intend to start now. We’re more focused on hiring the right people,” he says.  LOL!!!!!!!!

The end of an era.  Wheels Down, Shuttle Era Is Over | CNSnews.com  “It was the 135th mission for the space shuttle fleet, which altogether flew 542 million miles and circled Earth more than 21,150 times over the past three decades. “President Obama scheduled a big fundraising party in Chicago on his fiftieth birthday on August third. It’s the day after the U.S. runs out of money. Lots of men have a midlife crisis on their fiftieth birthdays, but they don’t usually bring the whole country along on the Apocalypse.” –comedian Argus Hamilton

Final Thought:  “The eyes of the world being thus on our Country, it is put the more on its good behavior, and under the greater obligation also, to do justice to the Tree of Liberty by an exhibition of the fine fruits we gather from it.” –James Madison, letter to James Monroe, 1824

David – cooler (and more capitalist-minded) heads do need to prevail. What Harry Reid did today with CCB is despicable: http://www.cnsnews.com/news/article/senate-kills-cut-cap-and-balance-bill This is the same Harry Reid who railed against raising the debt ceiling limit when a Republican was President. Meanwhile, he has no plan, neither does 0bama, and no one (except the House Republicans) have put forward any ideas that will reduce the spending and balance the budget. I am so sick of the duplicity in Washington that I could scream!!

The liberals are getting just what they want….confusion. Chaos is the end goal. It is the excuse they need to invoke socialism. Alinsky wrote it. Cloward and Piven outlined the procedure for it and Obama taught it. Soros wants it.
When was the last time that America stood clearly for anything on an issue where it could make a difference. Example……did we take a stand in Lybia? Uh nope. Did we hear anything definitive out of the White House or Congress on the debt yet?…..Uh not really. There are a dozen other good examples. The Reps like Ms. Rodgers have good intentions, but too few allies. At best they may be able to maintain gridlock until January of 2013. The trouble may be though that gridlock and the frustration that goes with it, may be ‘spun’ into the Liberals’ plan.
Simple, logical answers to our big problems is where the political currency lies. I hope the Conservatives rally around that cause before the Liberals lay out socialism as the “dream come true” for the desperate masses.
Part of the “compromise” in many debt plans currently involve “raising revenue” by eliminating loopholes. For instance, both sides of the aisle have proposed dropping the mortgage interest deduction. That would do more damage to the real estate and construction industries than the ‘Far Housing Act’ ever did. I pray cooler heads prevail.
Our problem is simple. American prosperity was too much for the ‘elite’ to tolerate. They went to war against it. They are still in power.
