HDR 156: What Do March Madness, Robots and Farmville Have In Common?

Rosie, the Jetsons' maid, says: "My folding days are over!!"

ALOHA, ALL!  This will make your blood boil:  did you know your tax dollars are being spent to analyze trendy baby names?  How about figuring out if online dating sites are racist?  Is it worth $500,000 to watch shrimp run on a treadmill?  But this is really important:  why do the same teams always dominate March Madness?  No wait….this is vital:  does playing Farmville on Facebook help adults develop & maintain relationships?  And my personal favorite – $1.5 million to create a robot that folds laundry.  All these frivolous things – and more – were uncovered in a report released Thursday by Dr. Tom Coburn:   Dr. Coburn Releases New Oversight Report Exposing Waste, Mismanagement at the National Science Foundation   “Unfortunately, in some ways NSF has undermined its core mission through mismanagement and misplaced priorities. For instance, spending taxpayer dollars to study why some college basketball teams dominate March Madness, funding trips for romantically-involved NSF employees and duplicating programs contributes to our debt rather than science,” Dr. Coburn said.”  Good grief – enough, already!!!

Honey, I dissed the General.  Remember the new “rapid response czar” (or whatever the heck he is) that I wrote about recently?  Well….his name is Jesse Lee and his wife is none other than the mastermind behind the “General Betray Us” campaign. You know – the full-page ad campaign that smeared General Petraeus before he testified in front of Congress about the Iraq surge.  That’s right – Nita Chaudhary is her name and she’s up to her eyeballs in moveon.org, George Soros propaganda, and other liberal crap.  Pajamas Media: MoveOn.org Tied to New White House Online Combat Team

He’s BAAAACK!  You’re forged! Trump declares Obama’s birth certificate fake  “Billionaire businessman Donald Trump says he believes the “birth certificate” released by the White House is forged.  Trump said his period of almost-complete silence on the issue following the release by the White House on April 27 of the image of a “Certificate of Live Birth” from the state of Hawaii was not because he was satisfied with the document.”  It turns out that Trump’s own computer expert told him it was a forgery.  If you want a really complete overview of all the problems associated with this document, be sure to click on the link….it’s a real eye-opener!  (BTW – Jerome Corsi doesn’t trust Trump’s motives in getting involved with the birth certificate issue again.  He thinks Trump is now fishing for information since he’s been bought by NBC  – as you know, they renewed “The Apprentice” for a boatload of money.  I guess time will tell what Trump’s true motives are.)

Wasn’t it supposed to save money?   New Study Shows Higher Health Care Costs under Obamacare | The Foundry  “Health care spending increased by 7.5 percent in 2010 and will grow by 8 percent this year. In 2012, it will rise again by 8.5 percent. This is exactly the opposite of the President’s promise that his health care plan would reduce premiums by $2,500 per person.”

Barry’s Magical Mystery World Tour continues:  Obama plans to visit Bali in November: Governor | The Jakarta Post  Can he be any more clueless?????  Or maybe he sees the writing on the wall and is doing as much traveling as he can before January, 2013.

DUH!!!!  AIM: NPR Ombudsman Finally Questions Soros Funding | All American Blogger  “NPR Ombudsman Alicia Shepard admitted that the $1.8 million from George Soros’ Open Society Foundations may have damaged the credibility of the network at a critical time.” LOL!

Time for a little humor:  Quote(s) of the day, the humor edition – Common American Journal  Be sure to check out Netanyahu’s suggestion for U.S. borders 😉

This is a “had to share” video.  If you want to know the difference between the Israelis and the Palestinians, just watch this:

A blessed Memorial Day to all HDR readers.  Never forget the sacrifices of our military!  (Thanks to my Cugina for the picture)

It is the VETERAN,

not the preacher,

who has given us freedom of religion.

It is the VETERAN,

not the reporter,

who has given us freedom of the press.

It is the VETERAN,

not the poet,

who has given us freedom of speech.

It is the VETERAN,

not the campus organizer,

who has given us freedom to assemble.

It is the VETERAN,

not the lawyer,

who has given us the right to a fair trial.

It is the VETERAN,

not the politician,

Who has given us the right to vote.

It is the VETERAN who

salutes the Flag,

And it is the VETERAN

who serves

under the Flag

GOD BLESS THEM ALL!!

Final Thought:  “Every man who loves peace, every man who loves his country, every man who loves liberty ought to have it ever before his eyes that he may cherish in his heart a due attachment to the Union of America and be able to set a due value on the means of preserving it.” –James Madison, Federalist No. 41.

GOD BLESS AMERICA – PASS THIS ON – REMEMBER IN 2012!!

Next time a talking head jumps up and starts waving the ‘racist’ flag, I’d love to hear a commentator ask them to “name the races for us, so we can understand better” please. I’d be willing to bet that maybe 2 out of a hundred could even come close.

    • Lee says :

On YouTube, someone called me “an ignorant racist.” I responded, “I am offended. I am not ignorant.” They tried a couple of comebacks, but it fell flat.

Fear not the label, and fear not the labeller.

      • giliar says :

Good point, Lee! I don’t care what people call me (and I’ve been called a few hateful names.) That’s what the left resorts to when they have no reasonable arguments on the issues…which is pretty much always! The other response that makes them clam up when they criticize the right is to ask them what solutions they have…dead silence!

  2. M. Rethman says :

How about finding out if shrimp are racist? My bet is that they discriminate against any form of life smaller than they and don’t really care much for anything bigger! Now that’s my question. Can I get NSF to fund it?

    • giliar says :

Maybe if you try to find out if robotic shrimp with trendy names running on treadmills while playing Farmville and/or watching March Madness are racist….that’s the ticket!

  3. Lee says :

“How about figuring out if online dating sites are racist?”–How much you wanna bet that while any White-dedicated dating sites will be labeled racist, those devoted to other races will be considered just fine and dandy?
