HDR 123: Presidents Day? It’s George Washington’s Birthday!
ALOHA, ALL! Today we celebrate the Father of our Country. No, wait…..we celebrate the fact that we have Presidents. Or do we celebrate all the Presidents in one big lump, even those who were less-than-stellar? Presidents Day is a holiday joke. And we have the glorious 1980s to thank for changing the holiday from “Washington’s Birthday” to “Presidents Day.” But did you know this? Great info from the Heritage Foundation:
Contrary to popular opinion, no action by Congress or order by any president has changed “Washington’s Birthday” to “President’s Day.” Section 6103 of Title 5, United States Code, still designates the legal federal holiday as “Washington’s Birthday.” It would be easy to for the president to issue an executive order that would enforce the law and remind all Americans that George Washington ought not to be lumped in with every other president: good, bad, and the ugly (yes, James Buchanan we are talking about you). As for me, I’m calling the holiday what it should be called – Washington’s Birthday. Just because some commercial interests think Presidents Day has greater sales appeal, I’m not buying it. The Father of our Country deserves more respect than he’s getting…and the kids in school need to be taught that.
Of course, their teachers are protesting right now, so good luck with that!!!! Strikes are now hitting Indiana and Ohio. MORE NEWS AND LINKS FROM THE CAPITALIST vs. SOCIALIST BATTLES IN WISCONSIN & BEYOND:

Final Thoughts: “Firearms are second only to the Constitution in importance; they are the peoples’ liberty’s teeth.”
“Government is not reason; it is not eloquent; it is force. Like fire, it is a dangerous servant and a fearful master.”
“Guard against the impostures of pretended patriotism.” All – George Washington
P.S. George Washington did NOT have wooden teeth. They were made of ivory but were so badly stained that they looked like wood. They’re on display at the National Museum of Dentistry in Baltimore – a great place, BTW!
GOD BLESS AMERICA – PASS THIS ON – REMEMBER IN 2012!
