HDR 83(1): Arizona Rising

Arizona Flag

ALOHA, ALL! Hooray for Arizona….during the past week AZ has set itself apart from the rest of the country in some major ways.  First, it passed a strict immigration crackdown because people were tired of being harassed, beat up, and killed by illegals.  What a concept…arresting illegals because they are illegal!   And in the world of media idiocy, MSNBC actually ran the caption “Law Makes It Crime To Be Illegal Immigrant.”  LOL!  While the lamestream media try to focus on the poor “victims” of the new law, Governor Jan Brewer is holding firm.  My new hero!  Since when is it racist to enforce a law that focuses on people who are here illegally? This law mirrors federal legislation, so what’s the big deal?  Is it because they are actually trying to enforce the laws?   Frankly, if it was determined that there was a huge influx of Italians here illegally, I would gladly and proudly consent to having to prove my citizenship.  If you have nothing to fear, why protest?  BTW, according to a new Rasmussen poll, 60% of Americans agree with the new AZ law.  Texas is now considering a similar law: TX Politician Proposing Immigration Law Similar To AZ (As an aside, how about all the reporting on the violence of the protests in Phoenix? Oh, that’s right….they only report on non-violent-but-we-want-you-to-think-they-are-violent Tea Party protests.)  NOT RACIST – NOT VIOLENT – NO LONGER SILENT!

If  You Find Yourself In An Immigration Argument With A Lefty, here’s a great article that gives logical and concise arguments against amnesty and open borders: Five Arguments Republicans Should Use Against Obama’s Immigration Bill Of course, logic is lost on most of the lefty loons, but at least you’ll be well prepared.

Arizona Also Did This:  AZ House Passes Amendment Requiring Citizenship Proof of President That means if Barack 0bama wants to be on the ballot in AZ in 2012 he will need to prove his eligibility.  It’s about time – this loophole enables someone to get bumped up all the way through the system.  Who actually checks this? Supposedly Congress is responsible for verifying the eligibility of presidential candidates, but have they ever formally done this?  It should be a matter of course for every presidential election and a specific, open, publicized procedure – they spend plenty of time in Congress naming streets and spending our money.  This is important.  UPDATE:  Looks like Georgia is planning a similar measure:  Another State Considers Arizona Eligibility Plan

And…AZ became the first state to enact a law that allows them to opt out of abortion funding in 0bamacare:  Brewer Makes AZ First To Drop Abortion Funding in HC Wow – I’m ready to move!

Another Gov We Love…Chris Christie in NJ!  This guy is really shaking things up.  He has instituted budget cuts, spending freezes and bucked the extremely powerful NJ teacher’s union.  He’s told them they either need to accept a pay freeze (not cut..freeze) or accept job cuts.  The union doesn’t even want to have their pay frozen! Meanwhile, the executive director of their union makes $550,000/year and that doesn’t include all the entitlements.  George Will wrote a great story about Christie:  The Governor Who Roared in New Jersey

Christians and Jews Are Fair Game.  My friend Sammy who writes the “Yid With Lid” blog reported on how National Security Advisor General James Jones told an anti-semitic joke during a keynote speech in Washington recently:  Jones – Jews Are Greedy Merchants This is an 0bama administration official telling disparaging jokes about an ethnic/religious group. And has anyone noticed that this administration has repeatedly alienated the only democracy in the Middle East – one of our strongest allies? But apparently that’s OK…he didn’t try to disparage illegal immigrants who kill ranchers and commit crimes.

Which Leads Me to This:  An ingenious example of speech and politics occurred recently in the United Nations Assembly which made the world community smile. A representative from Israel began: “Before beginning my talk I want to tell you something about Moses. When he struck the rock and it brought forth water, he thought, ‘What a good opportunity to have a bath!’ He removed his clothes, put them aside on the rock and entered the water. When he got out and wanted to dress, his clothes had vanished. A Palestinian had stolen them.” The Palestinian representative jumped up furiously and shouted, “What are you talking about? The Palestinians weren’t there then.” The Israeli representative smiled and said, “And now that we have made that clear, I will begin my speech.”  (Thanks to Jim for the joke – I don’t care if it’s not PC.)

The Protest of Thousands That You Didn’t Hear About:  Gathering in NYC to Support Israel

Well That Explains a Lot:  Tim Geithner Says “I Never Had A Real Job.” As my friend Ralph responded, “I’ve never NOT had a real job.”

No Flag in Haiti. Just in case you hadn’t heard…..Following the devastating earthquake in Haiti, the United States rushed in to help – with money, medicine, and manpower. To date, we’ve already given over $179 million in humanitarian aid… but Barack Obama has ordered all U.S. installations to take down their American flags, lest we be seen as an “occupying army” rather than “international partners.”  It is patently appalling that a president of the United States would consider our flag to be a symbol of militaristic takeovers and colonialism, especially when serving (to a greater degree than any other nation on Earth) a humanitarian purpose.  Additionally, who would think we’d want to occupy Haiti?!  No other country giving aid in Haiti has lowered its flag. But then again, no other country has a leader who is offended by their own flag.  (Thanks to Bruce for the link.)

Prescott, AZ - 4/23/10

Boo Hoo, Chris Dodd.  So the Republicans finally grew some GUTS and blocked action on the Dems financial overhaul bill. But don’t think it’s over – the Dems plan to bring it up again this week, hoping that someone in the GOP ranks will cave.  The Demogressives (I got that from my friend Rick) like to call the GOP the friend of Wall Street, but it’s actually the Dems who fit that description.  Check out this video:  Who’s The Real Party of Wall Street? 0bama quickly claimed Republicans were playing politics for not rolling over and playing dead:  Obama Blasts Republicans After Reform Vote This from a guy who appealed to young people, women, Blacks and Hispanics to support him and his agenda:  Obama Rallies The Troops No one plays politics better than he does and he’s a master at using the race card, but this time he’s going to lose.  (Sidenote: The Blago thing is getting interesting!  Turns out obama was more involved in picking his Illinois senate successor than he claimed.  What a shock:  Secret Papers Reveal Talks Between Obama and Blago)

This Week’s Rising Star Is….A real Star – Star Parker, that is!  Star is running for Congress in California’s 37th congressional district.  You may have read her columns and seen her on Fox News.  Star is the founder of the Center for Urban Renewal and Education in the Los Angeles area.  Through CURE, she seeks market-based solutions to fight poverty.  She has debated the likes of Jessie Jackson and Michael Moore and also spoke at the 1996 Republican National Convention.  As Star states on her website,   “Today is not business as usual in America.  American prosperity was built on freedom and now our country is morally and financially bankrupt. We are at a crossroads and our country is divided.  Abraham Lincoln reminded his generation that “A house divided against itself cannot stand.”  Current Rising Star Tally: Katherine Jenerette (Congress-SC), Allen West (Congress-FL), Les Phillip (Congress-AL), Steve Stivers (Congress-OH), Tim Burns (Congress-PA), Christine O’Donnell (Senate-DE), Dan Benishek (Congress-MI), Linda Goldthorpe (Congress-MI), Ilario Pantano (Congress-NC), Charles Djou (Congress-HI), John Willoughby (Congress-HI).  Stay tuned for more!

Are You Looking For Some Cool Tea Party Tees? I just heard about this site:  GetTeeShirts The owners are from Columbus, Ohio and they also have a painting company.  My friend Martie recently had her house painted and said they did superb work.  I really like the clever designs of the shirts – COPS is a good one!  Go to the site to check it out 🙂

Government Motors.  Looks like it didn’t take them long to figure out how to spin things.  While their new commercials proudly proclaim they have paid back all their taxpayer loans – and five years ahead of schedule – there’s a slight glitch….GM paid back TARP money with other TARP money!  Only in government can you manage to “pay back” money with other borrowed money.  GM Repaid TARP Loans With TARP Money Good grief – obama must be so proud of his auto company’s double-speak!

No, I Didn’t Make This Up: Andy Stern Leaves SEIU $85 Million In Debt, Joins Obama’s Debt Commission Or This:  Obamacare May Jeopardize Access To Care for Seniors and Low-Income Americans Or This:  Did HHS Secretary Sebelius Hide Damaging Report on Obamacare? But is sure looks like other people are making up lots of stuff!

Final Thought:  “The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.”  Amendment X to the Constitution of the United States of America

Please keep up this great work for America. I read your report thoroughly and there is so much that I learn from it that does not appear on TV (Fox), Rush’s program, Hannity or others. Great work Gilia.
