Hump Day Report: Incompetent Nincompoops

ALOHA, ALL!!  I haven’t blogged lately because I’ve been on the road again.  Seems like life gets in the way of blogging sometimes.  One of my trips involved a visit to New York City – a great place to be during Thanksgiving and the lead-in to Christmas.  I enjoyed my share of shopping, (mostly window shopping) eating and sightseeing.  A great escape.  But it was in the car ride to Newark airport, returning home, when I was brought back to reality.  The driver was originally from Belarus.  Since hubby was a Russian history major, he enjoyed chatting with Gregory.  Gregory has been in the US for over 20 years.  His perspectives on the recent election were interesting and insightful.  Gregory mentioned several times that the Republican party was run by “incompetent nincompoops” for letting the Democrats frame who they are.  He thought Obama’s re-election was a “given” judging by how the GOP handled their messaging to the electorate.  Interesting indeed, coming from an individual who has experienced one-sided messaging in an oppressive society.  While hubby and I didn’t agree with Gregory on everything, we found a lot of common ground.  Mainly, that the GOP needs to wake up and start creating their own narrative.  We’ll see how things spin out with the “fiscal cliff” situation.  Who will do a better job of messaging to the masses?

Another Interesting Russian Perspective:  Obama’s Soviet Mistake  “Putin in 2009 outlined his strategy for economic success. Alas, poor Obama did the opposite but nevertheless was re-elected. Bye, bye Miss American Pie. The Communists have won in America with Obama but failed miserably in Russia with Zyuganov who only received 17% of the vote. Vladimir Putin was re-elected as President keeping the NWO order out of Russia while America continues to repeat the Soviet mistake.”

Obama’s Still Campaigning:  Obama Hits The Road To Rally Support For His Tax Plan  “I’ve been keeping my own naughty and nice list for Washington,” he told workers and others gathered at a plant that makes K’NEX toys. If Republicans hold middle-class tax cuts hostage to preserve them for the rich, he said, then everyone could end up paying more next year. “That’s sort of like the lump of coal you get for Christmas. That’s a Scrooge Christmas.”  I repeat:  who will do a better job of messaging to the masses?

Obama’s Still Golfing:  As Fiscal Cliff Looms, Obama Returns To Golf Course with Bill Clinton  “Obama and Clinton last golfed together in September 2011 before the election. As Ryan Lizza reported earlier this year, the golf game symbolized the beginning of Obama’s special relationship with the former president.”

Why Can’t They Just Do This?  Six Fixes To America’s Fiscal Crisis  “Elected officials in Washington keep enacting short-term patches to keep the government running, which is not a real solution. We need to reform the programs that are causing the runaway spending and deficits today and in the years to come—the large, lumbering entitlement programs of Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid.”

ALOHA, ALL!!!  It’s Halloween and there is reason to be worried about goblins, ghouls, witches and devils.  Especially the ones in Washington DC.  There’s a feeling of doom and gloom hanging over the country because of them.  Let’s make sure we  oust them next Tuesday.

Knock me over with a feather.  Media Cooperating With Benghazi Coverup?  ”…this isn’t a total media blackout by any means, but implies that the aversion to this story has a lot to do with the party affiliation of the President.”  And:  Facebook Censors Navy SEALs To Protect Obama On Benghazi-Gate  ”Over the weekend, Facebook took down a message by the Special Operations Speaks PAC (SOS) which highlighted the fact that Obama denied backup to the forces being overrun in Benghazi.”  THIS JUST IN:  It Was All Just An ‘Accidental Mistake’  “What is Facebook trying to do? Let’s just say that the removal of the meme was a mistake. Was the 24-hour suspension a mistake too? The truth needs to come out about what happened in Libya, and the last thing we need is an organization like Facebook trying to impede the show of support for getting to the bottom of the story.”

MoveOn.org shows class once again.  This is the mindset of Obama’s core supporters! I’d be willing to bet that in reality The Greatest Generation is horrified at this ad – language alert!

Hump Day Report: Pinocchio Jumps The Shark

ALOHA, ALL!!  It’s official:  Obama and his minions have lost it. They are getting so desperate to win this election that they will say anything, no matter how outrageous.  On Thursday, Obama’s deputy campaign manager, Stephanie Cutter, accused Mit Romney of committing a felony.   It all has to do with paperwork that allegedly states Romney was with Bain Capital longer than he claims.  Cutter said that Romney may have committed a felony if he misrepresented his role at Bain on SEC documents:  Presidential Rivals Trade Charges of Lying, Romney Demands Apology Over ‘Felony’ Remark  In reality, Romney left Bain rather hastily to take over the Salt Lake City Olympics.  it took awhile for the paperwork to reflect the changes in his involvement.  Even the lib Washington Post gave this charge Three Pinnochios.  Hot Air adds this:  ”In other words, the accusation that Romney is an uncharged felon is pure demagogic tripe — which Team Obama seems anxious to deploy in large quantities these days…Don’t hold your breath, but do take heart — if this is all they have left in July, Team Obama is completely out of gas.”  Team Obama has reached a new low.  And they keep shooting blanks.  Since Barry hasn’t denounced any of this nonsense, then he must approve of it.  As Michelle Malkin says:  Not Such A ‘Nice Guy’ Anymore, Huh?

Meanwhile - Obama’s Imperial Presidency Guts Welfare Reform   ”Not content to stop at rewriting immigration policy, education policy and energy policy, yesterday, President Obama’s Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) released an official policy directive rewriting the welfare reform law of 1996. Class warfare rhetoric – an analysis from Howie (Shaka to you!):  Do the “rich” really take advantage of the “poor” or are the “poor” enabling others to determine their existence? The message from many politicians is that the “rich” take advantage of the “poor.” It takes a wise person to see otherwise.

The “powerful” use the “poor” to gain and maintain their power over the “poor.” As long as the gap between the “rich” and “poor” continues to increase, and the number of “poor” continue to increase; the “powerful” (not necessarily the rich) will continue to promote the message of “class warfare.”

The reason behind the message:  If the “powerful” can eliminate the “rich” then what do we have left? That’s right. Only the “poor” or people that are dependent upon the “powerful” for survival and existence.

We as Americans need to see the forest through the trees. Use common sense and fully understand who or what controls our lives. Are we going to be self-determining or are we going to let others determine who we are?

ALOHA, ALL!!

It’s fitting to honor George Washington, the Father of Our Country, today.  He was an extraordinary individual (and my favorite President.)   To realize the sacrifices and incredible leader he was, one needs to put into perspective the times in which he lived.  Washington could have lived his life very comfortably under British rule.  He was a wealthy man (gee….a 1 percenter??)  with a beautiful home and lots of land.  But his country needed him and he stepped forward.  This video from Dick Morris explains how Washington was a true hero and leader, not just in ways we commonly know:

Hump Day Report: Lies, Damned Lies

ALOHA, ALL!!  It’s been an interesting couple of days.  I attended a Heritage Foundation event last night with the incredible Dinesh D’Souza as the speaker.  I participated in a blogger conference call yesterday morning with members of the House Financial Services Committee.  And I attended a luncheon yesterday where Senatorial candidate Linda Lingle gave the keynote address.  (More on all these below.)  But the one story that keeps rising to the top (or more appropriately, falling into the sewer of political filth) is Eric Holder’s “Fast and Furious” fiasco.  Holder has no shame….he has lied and stonewalled about this botched operation for a full year and now it looks like it’s all finally catching up with him.  He may very well be held in contempt of Congress:  House Considers Contempt Charge Against Holder in Fast and Furious Case   Why should Holder be held in contempt?  Check out this graphic (click on it to enlarge it):

So out of 80,000 documents related to Fast & Furious, Holder has released only 6,000.  Investigators have been denied access to 48 of 70 officials involved in the operation – denied access???  And Holder has ignored – ignored? – 66% of subpoenas.  Why are we even talking about this?  Holder needs to be kicked out of office immediately!  This will blow you away:

The hardest working committees in government.  I mentioned I had a blogger call with some of the folks on the House Financial Services Committee.  They and  the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee (the one investigating Fast & Furious) have their hands full with all the monkey business going on with this administration and its cronies.  The topic today was MF Global – turns out they had a “break the glass” plan to pull the wool over people’s eyes:  MF Hearings Focus on Public Face, Internal Worry – WSJ.com

There was a surprise question in yesterday’s conference call.  Cathy McMorris Rodgers | Vice Presidential Surprise | The Daily Caller  ”The daughter of produce farmers who operated a fruit stand, she was the first member of her family to attend college. She earned her MBA from the University of Washington in 2002. By the age of 24, she was a member of the state House of Representatives. Married to a retired U.S. Navy commander, McMorris Rodgers is also one of only eight women to have ever given birth while serving in Congress, and the only woman who has done it twice.”   Can you say accomplished?  How about multi-tasker?  I could tell by her reaction she was surprised by the question, but it sure sounds like a good one to me!

Hawaii might elect a Female Republican Senator!  Yes, this is big news, folks.  There is a good chance Hawaii could have a Republican Senator for the first time in 35 years.  Yes, you read that correctly.  And its first female Senator.  Hawaii’s last Republican Senator was Hiram Fong, who was voted out of office in 1977.  Linda Lingle, former Hawaii Governor, is running to fill the seat of retiring Senator Dan Akaka (he’s been there since 1976 and is 86 years old.)  Keep your fingers crossed, folks.  You may think this place is paradise, but believe me, it’s far from perfect.

Dinesh D’Souza!  If you ever get a chance to hear him speak, go.  His book, “The Roots of Obama’s Rage” was a long-time best seller (which irritated the White House no end.)  Dinesh is brilliant and he has 0bama’s motivations pegged perfectly.  I told him after his talk that I think it takes someone who has experienced living in another country to truly recognize what 0bama is all about.  Those of us who grew up in the United States have no radar for dictatorial leaders.  We’ve been sheltered.  We assume our politicians are pro-American.  Big mistake.  (Shaka to the Heritage Foundation for hosting this outstanding event.)

ALOHA, ALL!!  Remember how Barry claimed in his SOTU speech that he was on target to reach his goal of doubling exports?  (I know….who was paying attention?)  Anyhow, when I heard it I thought to myself, “export what?”  He never explained what those exports were, hoping we’d all think it was cars or clothing or widgets.  But guess what’s propelling Barry’s export success?  Oil.  Our own oil that we could be using for ourselves is going to other countries at a record pace.  Check this out:  Export growth on track to meet Obama goal – Economy – NewsObserver.com  ”Sales of petroleum products also hit a record of about $90 billion in 2011, making fuel the country’s single-biggest export, and the United States a net exporter of fuel for the first time in six decades.”  Are you kidding me?????  Just one more example of how 0bama wants energy prices to “necessarily skyrocket.”  (Shaka to Rose Marie for the link.)

To wit:  Harper Builds Oil Link With China After Obama Keystone ‘Slap’ – Common American Journal  “The Keystone decision was a slap in the face to Canada and it’s making Canadians rethink the relationship,” said Jack Mintz, head of the School of Public Policy at the University of Calgary. “Harper probably wants to put out a sign that we’re open for business for Asia.”

And have you heard how we’re “helping” Brazil?  Obama’s $2 billion to Brazil ends up helping send oil to China « Hot Air  ”We apparently can subsidize government controlled oil companies in foreign countries, but not here.”

CBO report not rosy.    CBO: Taxes Will ‘Shoot Up by More Than 30 Percent’ Over Next 2 Years | CNSnews.com  ”The U.S. economy, CBO projects, will perform “below its potential” for another six years and unemployment will remain above 7 percent for another three.”

But it’s rosy if you work for the government.  CBO: Federal workers better compensated than in private sector – The Hill’s On The Money  ”The Congressional Budget Office found Monday that federal workers are compensated 16 percent more than comparable private-sector workers on average.”  More from The Heritage Foundation:  Federal Workers Overpaid, and CBO Agrees  ” Salaries and benefits–for identical jobs–are 30 percent to 40 percent higher in the federal government than in the private sector.”

Romney wins Florida, Newt & Santorum vow to fight on.  Let’s hope they listen to Dick Morris.

I’m very disappointed in Congressman Allen West, who last week observed that Nazi propagandist Joseph Goebbels would be “truly proud” of the Democratic Party’s “lies and deceit.”

While correct, Congressman West neglects the other striking similarities between National Socialists and Obama Socialists. This is not to say that the DNC wants to recreate the Holocaust (though its president could do so inadvertently, with his tender-on-Tehran policy) or that the Messiah in Chief will begin giving 4-hour speeches in German. (Where would he find a German teleprompter?)

But, like the pigs and men at the end of “Animal Farm,” it’s becoming increasingly difficult to tell brownshirts and the party which would literally take the shirts off our backs apart.

Here are the Top 10 Ways Democrats Are Like Nazis:

1. Economic Fascism – Like the National Socialists, Democrats want to maintain the façade of private ownership while putting control in the hands of the state. Whether a business prospered or failed in the Third Reich depended on political pull – how close industrialists were to the Nazi leadership. Similarly, the Obama administration has come more and more to resemble the “crony capitalism” it denounced in 2008. Companies whose executives made lavish contributions to the Obama campaign ended up with contracts worth hundreds of millions for products that couldn’t possibly be manufactured with private financing. Solyndra is the most glaring example. The private/government partnership typical of fascism is taken a step further. In January 2011, Obama appointed General Electric CEO Jeffrey Immelt head of his jobs council. Need you ask which candidate GE’s executives will invest in next year to keep their jobs?

2. Cult of personality – Hitler, Stalin and Mao were its most prominent practitioners. Obama is no slouch. It started at the 2008 Democratic nominating convention in Denver. Mere mortals accept their party’s nomination at the convention site. Not Barack Obama, whose campaign packed 80,000 delirious followers into the Denver Bronco’s stadium to hear Glorious Leader-in-waiting deliver his coronation speech amidst fake Greek pillars. (It was all reminiscent of the elaborately-staged events in Nuremberg, where the masses worshipped another man-God). At Obama’s $150-million inauguration, celebrity cretins like Ashton Kutcher, Demi Moore and Cameron Diaz, pledged to their leader to “be the change” (his change). In a recent “60 Minutes” interview, the man whose hubris is in perpetual overdrive obliquely declared himself the 4th best president in American history. Why only 4th? Can the divine image on stamps, coins and statues be far off?

3. Penchant for thuggery – The Nazis used their S.A. street fighters to intimidate opponents. In 1972, during the McGovern campaign, the national Democratic Party was taken over by the New Left, whose hallmark was violent confrontations with the police during the ‘60s anti-war movement. (Obama has never disavowed ex-Weatherman Bill Ayers, who still boasts of blowing things up in the 1960s.) In answer to Tea Party activism and Republican victories in 2010, Democrats have become increasingly unhinged. In February, Massachusetts Congressman Mike Capuano told a gang of labor goons in Boston, “Every once and awhile, you need to get out in the streets and get a little bloody when necessary.” (The goons proceeded to rough-up counter-protestors.) On Labor Day, Obama appeared at a rally with AFL-CIO Capo Richard Trumka, who had earlier told Illinois UMW members to get out and “kick the sh-t out of every last” worker who crossed picket lines. Lately, we had the Occupy Wall Street Movement (the Obama Jugend) battling cops who came to evict the squatters. Totalitarians of all stripes believe adherence to their vision justifies violence.

4. They’ve come for your guns –The National Socialists inherited a firearms registration law from the Weimar Republic and preceded to make it progressively harsher. In 1938, gun ownership was limited to Nazi party members. Earlier, the Weimar registration lists were used to confiscate guns from “undesirables.” The German socialists feared guns in the hands of their opponents. Starting with the U.S. Gun Control Act of 1968, every major piece of anti-Second Amendment legislation has been passed by Democrats. Fast and Furious, through which the ATF ran guns to Mexican drug cartels, was intended to discredit firearms dealers. Democrats call their gun-grabbing mania crime-prevention. Can they really be that stupid? The states with the least restrictive gun laws have the lowest crime rates. In a recent speech to the NRA, Newt Gingrich unmasked Obama’s stealth strategy – rather than push anti-gun legislation, he appoints anti-gun judges and signs anti-firearms treaties. The result is the same.

5. Undermine traditional religion while seeking to exploit it – But didn’t Hitler say he was a Christian. So does Obama. The religion mongered in the temple of Jeremiah Wright (anti-America, anti-Israel) bears the same relationship to normative Christianity that Obama-nomics does to the free market. Hitler idolized philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche and composer Richard Wagner – both militant atheists. In public, Hitler would try to use Christianity. Privately, he was contemptuous of the faith as a conspiracy of the Jews to foist their morality on happy pagans. In 1942, his deputy, Martin Bormann, flatly stated, “National Socialist and Christian concepts are incompatible.” The Democrats never miss a chance to undermine traditional religion, especially by placing Church-State fetishists on the bench. Until it was exposed by a Republican Congressman and hastily rescinded, Obama’s New PC Army tried to ban gifts of Bibles to wounded warriors at Walter Reed Army Hospital. The National Christmas Tree on the Capitol grounds has a number of ornaments with references to Obama, but nothing about Christmas or the Nativity or a crèche at the base. The Capitol police threatened to arrest Rev. Patrick Mahoney if he carried out plans to read the Christmas story or sing carols at the lighting ceremony. Totalitarians don’t like competition for the people’s loyalty. One god at a time, please.

6. Anti-progress – The Democratic Party is the Sierra Club in office. It opposes coal-mining, domestic oil production and nuclear power. If they could, Democrats would happily ban the internal-combustion engine. In 1935, the Third Reich passed a precursor of today’s environmental legislation (the Reich Nature Protection Law), which required “environmental effect reports” (environmental impact statements?) for any construction that might alter the landscape. Nazi biologist Ernst Lehmann explained: “We recognize that separating humanity from nature, from the whole of life, leads to humankind’s own destruction and the death of nations. Only through the re-integration of humanity into the whole of nature can our people be made stronger.” Sound familiar? Had it been published in Berlin in 1935, “Earth In Balance” would have become an instant classic.

7. Intellectual apologists – The left has dominated our college campuses since the 1960s. As early as 1931, the Nazis enjoyed far more support in German universities than with the general public – among both professors and students (the later through the National Socialist German Students). Philosophers, poets and scientists lined up to pledge allegiance to the Thousand Year Reich. Hitler railed at intellectuals. The Hitler Youth barbecued books. But if there’s one thing intellectuals like even more than their pet theories it’s the power to force them on the public, which is why every totalitarian regime has its intellectual running dogs. In 2012, watch for prominent economists (like Nobel laureate Paul Krugman), writers and scientists (especially the global warming crowd) to line up behind the man who celebrates himself as the smartest president since Thomas Jefferson.

8. Anti-Jewish – Hitler’s anti-Semitism is too well known to require elaboration. Less well known is that, like the liberal left, he was appreciative of Islam and viewed Muslims as allies. Haj Amin al-Husseini – Grand Mufti of Jerusalem and uncle to Yasser Arafat – spent World War II in Berlin and recruited a Muslim SS division in the Balkans. The degeneration of the Democratic Party from Harry S. Truman, who made the Jewish state possible, to Barack Hussein Obama (who would make the Jewish state impossible to maintain) is unprecedented. Obama’s open contempt for Israel caused a heavily Jewish congressional district in New York to elect a Republican for the first time in 70 years in 2011. The Democratic think tank Center for American Progress compares Israel’s fight for survival to segregation in the pre-Civil Rights era. Obama’s ambassador to Belgium is reported to have remarked that a “distinction should be made between traditional anti-Semitism, which should be condemned and Muslim hatred for Jews (which should be tolerated?), which stems from the ongoing conflict between Israel and the Palestinians” – thus excusing the ongoing Kristallnacht in Europe, courtesy of the religion of peace. Should this be surprising from the president who sat in a pew of the Trinity United Church for 19 years and listened to Wright rant about “state terrorism against the Palestinians”? Obama’s “The Audacity of Hope” was inspired by one of the Wright Reverend’s sermons. In turn, Jeremiah gave an award to Louis, who called Judaism a “gutter religion.”

9. Practice the big lie – The Nazis were infamous for their propaganda techniques – which were actually pioneered by the Bolsheviks. Goebbels advised: “If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe.” Although the competition is fierce, probably the Democrats’ most outrageous lie is that they are for the middle class and all of the problems of Main Street can be laid at the door of Republicans and Wall Street. Democratic solicitude for Middle America is manifested by: giving us chronic 9% unemployment, an anti-progress tax system, crippling domestic energy production (leading to pain at the pump, among other effects), growing the national debt to shrink the economy (Obama increased the debt almost 30% in less than 3 years), leaving our borders unguarded so that blue-collar workers have to compete with hordes of illegal aliens, and a government-created crisis in the mortgage-housing market, putting homeownership out of reach for young families for decades. Democrats’ declaration of solidarity with the middle class is as sincere as Hitler’s assurances throughout the 1930s that he wanted peace – up until the moment he invaded Poland. While assuring us they have our interests at heart, Democrats invade our bank accounts and pension plans.

10. Come to power democratically, retain power dictatorially – Hitler came to power through the democratic process, then proceeded to eliminate his opponents, by banning competing parties, dissolving trade unions and, eventually, sending the leadership of both to concentration camps. Like the Nazis, Democrats believe their opponents are evil. They’ve done their best to demonize the Tea Parties and talk radio. Periodically, they threaten to revive the Fairness Doctrine and apply it rigorously to the only media they don’t control. Oklahoma Senator James Inhofe says that in 2007, he overheard a conversation between Hillary Clinton and Barbara Boxer in which they agreed that something had to be done about talk radio and “there’s got to be a legislative fix for this.” Democrats also seek to stifle dissent through hate-crimes laws and campaign spending limits. Would they go so far as to imprison opponents of the regime? The president has done a complete about-face on indefinite detention of suspected terrorists, which he swears would never, ever be used against U.S. citizens. In 2009, Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano said future terrorists would likely come from the ranks of Second Amendment activists, anti-tax protestors, proponents of border security and disgruntled Iraq war veterans. Connect the dots.

Comparisons are always imperfect and at some point break down. Hitler had a Charlie Chaplin moustache. Obama does not.

HDR 190: Happy Labor Day, Unhappy Labor Numbers

ALOHA, ALL!!  As we get ready to celebrate Labor Day weekend, how about some news on labor & jobs?  Actually, it’s not news, it’s the same old bad stuff, trending downward.  ZERO jobs were created in August.  This is the first time since 1945 that we’ve had a month of zero jobs growth.    Yep….nada, none, zilch.  Today, The Heritage Foundation had a great overview of the current job situation:  Unemployment Rate Stuck, Zero New Jobs in America  Barry sees the writing on the wall – if these numbers continue, he’s toast.  Actually, if there isn’t a big improvement in the unemployment and job growth numbers, he should be toast (but remember….he’ll have a billion dollars, the bully pulpit and million $$ busses to tour America for his re-election effort.  Well, he’ll fly to the busses and then get on them for a couple of miles to look like one of “the people.”)  So today, in a completely political move, he decided  to pull back on planned EPA regulations.  Completely political because he could have done this months ago, but did it today after hearing the dismal job numbers:    Obama Administration Abandons Plan to Tighten Air-Quality Rules – NYTimes.com  Hey Barry – enjoy your Labor Day weekend.  Maybe you should head back to the Vineyard and just stay there.
