HDR 86(1): Clowns To The Left Of Me

ALOHA, ALL! Did you miss me?  I must say that even though I wasn’t composing an HDR the past few weeks, I wasn’t being idle.  And it looks like our feckless leaders continued down the path of stupidity.  As HDR readers, you know that I can’t make up my mind whether Nancy Nitwit or 0bama deserve more of my ire.  Yeah, I know….it’s a real dilemma!  Let’s start with Nancy…..

Pelosi Moving To New Office.  It appears that her San Fran district office is no longer adequate so she’s moving to bigger digs.  The tax-payer funded new location will be 33% larger than the old office but cost 300% more ($18, 736/month.)  She claims she needed more space because after all, she’s the Speaker of the House now (maybe that big toy gavel should go.)  This is pure lunacy – she’s been speaker for nearly 3 years and now she needs to move?  Prediction:  she’ll be moving again after November 2010:  Pelosi Offers Democrat Example of Frugality and Responsibility

Queen Nancy on MSNBC.  Oh, to be stupid and oblivious….during an interview Pelosi first claimed that she hadn’t heard that the 0bama administration was continually blaming Bush for all the nation’s current problems.  She said, “I haven’t even heard that.”  WHAT?????  Of course, she then appeared to have a brief awakening from her idiocy and said that people would stop blaming Bush “when all the problems go away.”  Aw, how sweet!  So someday when we all live in her statist utopia where there are no problems, Bush will be exonerated.  Pelosi Will Stop Blaming Bush When Problems Go Away.

Then, There’s Our Dear Leader….Does he really think he’s showing leadership by opining about kicking someone’s ass on national television?  Is he so arrogant to think that we won’t notice that he finally decided to meet with BP oil execs 54 days after the Gulf oil disaster?  Oh yeah, how about this:  “I Can’t Suck It Up With A Straw” And guess where he was during the memorial service for the people killed on the oil rig?  No, not the golf course (good guess, though.)  He was headed to a fundraiser for Babs Boxer. Makes you sick to your stomach, doesn’t it?

He says he’s been on top of the oil spill “since day one.”  Here’s a timeline up until June 5…you decide:  0bama’s Gulf Oil Spill And here’s an update:  0bama’s Gulf Oil spill, Part II Of course, he did go to Alabama Monday and ate some shrimp, saying it was “delicious” and safe to eat.  If this is leadership then I’m qualified to be the Queen of England.  0bama is not only the worst president we have ever had, he’s the most dangerous.  He’s also incompetent. Looks like I’m in good company as Dick Morris agrees:  obama – An Incompetent Executive By now you’ve heard that help from the Dutch (offered 3 days after the spill) was rebuffed.  Did you know the British also offered help and were turned down?  US Turned Down Britain’s Offer To Help Clean Up Spill After all, obama can’t anger his huge union constituency by turning to foreign companies for assistance.  That would be so wrong! BREAKING NEWS:  0bama gives Oval Office speech on oil disaster.  Keith Olberman says, “It was a great speech if you were on another planet for the last 57 days.”   Yes, that Keith Olberman!

A Professional Opinion.  One psychiatrist just wrote an article in American Thinker analyzing 0bama and his odd, narcissistic personality.  She thinks he has serious problems and I tend to agree.  This man had a childhood that was far from normal.  He was abandoned by both his mother and his father and his grandfather chose a communist pervert to mentor him.  Frankly, how could he not be mentally damaged? (Thanks to Don for the link.)  And yes….I honestly think 0bama has personality disorders and is mentally damaged.  I believe that more and more each day, and he has done nothing to make me rethink my analysis.  If anything, he continues to confirm my assessment.

HDR 77(1): 0bama Is The Greatest!

ALOHA, ALL! Will they do it?  will the Democrats march off the cliff to support 0bamaCare? More Light Reading – The Reconciliation Bill Was released Monday and it’s 2309 pages long.  What is this bill?  Here’s how The Heritage Foundation describes it:  ”The House Budget Committee will begin markup on the new reconciliation bill even though actual legislative text does not exist for it yet. Trickery As Tactic.  Remember how Pelosi said a few weeks ago that “We will go through the gate. If the gate is closed, we will go over the fence. If the fence is too high, we will vault in. If that doesn’t work, we will parachute in. But we are going to get health care reform passed.”  Enter the “Slaughter Solution” There’s also the Deem and Pass (aka “Demon Pass”) that Nancy Nitwit is promoting now.  She says she wants to “kick through this door” so that more reform will follow.  As I’ve said before, she has really lost it…she is mentally unstable!  And if this healthcare bill is such a good thing for America, why do they have to use all these underhanded tactics to get it passed?  Just saying.

Hypocrisy As Tactic.  Eric Massa is a clown.  It turns out he has a long history of “tickle fights” with male staffers.  It also turns out that Madame Speaker knew about such shenanigans last October, yet did nothing about it:  Pelosi Knew Barney Franks’ chief of staff knew also (Barney was likely cool with it.)  This is a BIG story that has gotten NO coverage.  If Pelosi knew, she is not only hypocritical (remember her stinging indictment of Mark Foley?) but complicit.  Stay tuned.

House Republicans approved a ban on earmarks Thursday:  Pence Praises Unilateral Ban The 9th Circuit Court ruled that keeping the words “under God” in the Pledge of Allegiance is constitutional:  Court Upholds “Under God” In Pledge Even more miraculous….this is the same goofy court in California that is deemed the most leftist in the country!  How cool is this – Virginia Passes Law Against Federally Mandated Health Insurance Even better, it looks like at least 36 states are considering similar legislation. Virginia Thomas, wife of SCOTUS Justice Clarence Thomas, has started a new organization called Liberty Central.  I met her recently at an event in Dallas – a lovely lady!

This Week’s Rising Star Is….TWO people!  It’s great that so many incredible people are running – makes it difficult to pick just one!  First, Tim Burns.  Tim is a businessman who never thought he would run for office.  He states he is NOT a politician…he’s a regular guy running for Congress in Pennsylvania’s 12th district.  His motivation is to ensure a bright future for his two sons and he’s especially concerned about the financial situation of our country.  He says, “Please join me in this fight to take back our country and ensure all our children inherit a strong America, not a bankrupt one.”  A strong fiscal conservative, Tim is pro-life, pro-Second Amendment, supports strong national defense, and energy independence.  Sounds like he truly is a real, grounded person and not a political hack!

This week’s second Rising Star is Christine O’Donnell Christine is running for the Senate seat formerly held by “Say it Ain’t So” Joe Biden.  She is adamant about bringing the “national anti-Washington insurgency” to Delaware.  ”I’m running because our nation’s founding principles of individual liberty and free enterprise are no longer viewed by our leaders as indispensable.”  You may have seen Christine on TV as a political commentator where she has duked it out with the likes of  Chris Matthews and Bill Maher.  One of six children, she says she was “raised by parents who taught me that while life can be hard, hard work will also make life better.  WOW – the true Anti-Biden!

Texas Schoolbook Broo-Ha-Ha.  Frankly, I’m glad that someone finally decided to have textbooks lean more right for a change.  Liberals are going nuts over this, knowing that what happens with Texas textbooks translates to textbook contents throughout the country. IMHO, for too long textbooks have been “Wikipedia-ized”….written in ways that either change history or eliminate certain aspects that highlight conservative principles.  (Note: this is the liberal press at work – remember how the Tea Parties got practically zero coverage in Time and Newsweek?)  So if the pendulum swings more right this time, so be it.  Frankly, it’s better than the alternative:  Texas Takes A Stand For Accuracy In School Textbooks

HDR 75(1): Musings From The Swamp

ALOHA, ALL! I’m in the belly of the beast, the middle of the swamp.  Yes, I am writing this HDR from my hotel room in Washington, DC.  In fact, I am about a mile from the White House…OUR house…that has been overrun by incompetents, nitwits and ingrained political hacks.  At the top of that list sits the Speaker of the House.  I’m beginning to think that Nancy Pelosi truly has a serious mental disorder…I’m not kidding.  Now she claims “But, you know, we share some of the views of the Tea Partiers in terms of the role of special interest in Washington, D.C.”  Either that, or she lives in some strange, parallel universe where she truly believes you can say one thing on any given day and then completely reverse yourself the next.  Pelosi was interviewed by Elizabeth Vargas of ABC…of course, Vargas didn’t challenge Pelosi’s obvious lack of coherence.  Is this the same Pelosi who called the Tea Partiers “astroturf?”  (Be sure to watch how she squirms out of that one.)  The same Pelosi who thought the Tea Partiers kind of “rhetoric” was “frightening”?  The same Pelosi who was concerned about people “carrying swastikas” at rallies?  You have GOT to see this one:  Pelosi Says she Has Much In Common With The Tea Party

More….Pelosi also said (about the healthcare bill) that “a bill can be bipartisan without bipartisan votes.”  HUH???  She also gives herself “an A for effort.”  Pelosi – GOP Has Had Its Day

Nancy’s BFF. More Pelosi madness – she keeps defending Charlie Rangel.  Why?  (See above commentary for possible reasons.)  On 2/26, Pelosi said this about Rangel:  “All I saw was the press release where they said he did not violate the rules of the House.”  Huh?  Here’s what the Ethics Committe actually said:  ”“The Report further finds that Representative Charles B. Rangel violated the House gift rule by accepting payment or reimbursement for travel to the 2007 and 2008 conferences.”  Pelosi said she would “drain the swamp” and still maintains this is the most ethical administration ever.  Yet she claims she won’t make Rangel step down as Chair of the Ways and Means Committee because he “hasn’t jeopardized our country in any way.” Wow.  There is plenty of information about Rangle’s misconduct.  As swamp dwellers go, he seems to be right at home.  The Ongoing Saga Of Charlie Rangel and Rangel Had Info On Corporate-Sponsored Trips

The First Thing We Do, Let’s Kill All The Lawyers. (I’m not advocating this, but I know the thought has crossed the minds of many, including Shakespeare.)  If you had any doubt about the liberal bias of the American Bar Association, check out this story on Goodwin Liu.  He’s 0bama’s nominee for the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals…a leftist law professor from Berzerkly School of Law.  Even though he has only practiced law for a couple of years and has not argued a case in front of a Court of Appeal, he has received a “highly qualified” rating from the ABA.  Qualified?  Maybe he should run for POTUS.  Powerline:  ABA Exposes Its Liberal Bias

He’s Not a Doctor But He Wanted To Play One On TV. After hemming and hawing, 0bama finally invited some doctors (Tom Coburn & John Barasso) to his healthcare infomercial.  No doubt, he was hoping to convince them (again, with his awesome unicorn dust) that his healthcare bill is exactly the prescription this country needs. Bad Medicine.  So what does the future hold for 0bamacare?  Some think the Dems will try to ram it through anyhow via reconciliation or some other trick.  I like this post from RedState: Healthcare Reconciliation Is An Exercise In Futility The author, Moe Lane, states this, “I consider this bill dead.  But if the Democrats are so determined to resurrect it, fine: we’ll just prune their internal power structure down to the roots in November and kill the bill again in January.  In fact, that sounds kind of fun.”  I agree!!!

This Week’s Rising Star is Les Phillip. “The power of elected office is being used for self-serving agendas, special interests and political gain. I say no more!” Les is running for Congress in Alabama’s 5th Congressional District. A former navy pilot, he was born in Trinidad-Tobago and became a U.S. citizen in 1978. Les and his wife are business owners who strongly believe in the American way of free enterprise. He supports the right to bear arms and limited government. A remarkable American! UPDATE:  Hawaii Flag Flap.  Thanks to the efforts of Rep Kym Pine, the “flag bill” will now move to the floor of the Hawaii House for discussion and a vote!  So while the fight is not over, at least now it’s out of committee and has a chance of passing.  See last week’s HDR for a more complete discussion of this bill – even though this is happening in Hawaii, you might have similar restrictions on flying the American flag if you live in a community with specific rules.

IF YOU ONLY READ ONE THING IN THIS EDITION OF THE HDR…read this!  Think climate legislation ala Cap & Trade is dead?  Think again.  It is being cleverly re-packaged and will bankrupt this country under the guise of creating jobs, reducing polution and improving health:  The Edifice Falls And guess who’s back?  Al the Goracle wrote an op-ed in the NY Times on Saturday, then proceeded to skulk away again.  Here’s a perfect Gore-ism:   “From the standpoint of governance, what is at stake is our ability to use the rule of law as an instrument of human redemption.”  Human redemption? According to The Goracle, we’re not worthy (see Final Thought below)  Gore – We Can’t Wish Away Climate Change (thanks to Rob for the heads-up!)

Where’s The BrooHaHa Now? Remember all the flack over the Patriot Act when was passed by George Bush (under a Democrat Congress…but that point seems to get lost.)  0bama chose to extend the Patriot Act on Saturday (Saturday?  Why not a weekday?) yet the liberals/progressives remain silent in criticizing the measure.  Frankly, I’m glad 0bama extended the Act…but I find it hard to believe that those who opposed it under Bush think it’s OK now…then again, 0bama has sprinkled his unicorn dust over it so that makes it awesome.  0bama Signs One-Year Extension of Patriot Act

Can You Say “Conflict of Interest?” Don’t get me wrong – the Toyota safety concerns are indeed concerns.  But doesn’t it seem rather troubling that of the 59 Democrats on the panels deciding Toyota’s future in the US market, 31 of them received campaign cash from the UAW?  The UAW that is a major stockholder in GM?  Geez:  Thirty-One Dems Quizzing Toyota Execs Got UAW Campaign Cash

Speaking of Unions.  Their favorability rating with the American people has fallen dramatically since 2007 – from 58% to 41%.  More people are also questioning whether labor unions are necessary to protect American workers:  Favorability Ratings Of Labor Unions Fall Sharply Yet SEIU’s Andy Stern is the most frequent visitor to the White House.  Go figure.

Olympics Update – Just In! USA Olympic gold medal winning down hill racer Lindsey Vonn has been stripped of her recently won Olympic gold medal by President Barack 0bama. President obama is claiming the gold medal for himself by saying “nobody has gone down hill faster than I have!”  (LOL!  Thanks, Scott.)

The REAL Tsunami That Hit Hawaii. Yes, there was one and his name is Karl Rove!  Rove spoke at the annual Lincoln Day Day sponsored by the Hawaii GOP.  My friend Cindy was there and here’s her picture with Karl Rove and Governor Linda Lingle.  Karl told Cindy, “Obama is doing a kabuki show with all the wrong policies.”  LOL!  Our little state is getting a lot of attention lately – the RNC recently held their winter meeting here as well. Then there’s the silly, anti-Constitutional Akaka Bill.  We are determined to turn this state around and know we can do it – be sure to check out Charles Djou who is running for Congress in a special election in May.

HDR 71(1): Put On Your Big Boy Pants

I Want It MY Way!!!

Do you hear that whining sound? Every time Barack 0bama opens his mouth he cries like a baby.  Those mean Republicans….they keep saying no!!  That awful George Bush….he left a mess!!  Those hateful Fox News people….they don’t get tingles down their legs!!  Enough, already – grow up. The American people don’t want to hear a whining hypocrite every time 0bama goes on the airwaves.  This has got to be very old for TOTUS, too (that’s Teleprompter of the United States.) But the  kvetching is even more troubling when it’s coupled with duplicity, and that’s what we’re seeing with 0bama now.  Last week, I wrote about how David Plouffe is back advising 0bama, and it shows big-time.  Since the State of the Union speech, 0bama is on the offensive against the Republicans.  Forget the supposed outreach to the GOP when meeting with them in Baltimore last week – smoke and mirrors.  Check out 0bama’s response when questioned by Rep Jeb Hensarling about his new budget:  Spending America Into Oblivion In that same article, note how 0bama’s budget will double the national debt to $11.5 trillion in 2012 and triple it to $18.6 trillion by 2020.  0bama will run up more debt over 8 years than all other Presidents – combined! It’s Nancy The Nitwit Ninja! Looks like Nancy Pelosi wants to be a paratrooper: “We go through the gate. If the gate’s closed, we’ll go over the fence. If the fence is too high, we’ll pole vault in. If that doesn’t work, we’ll parachute in. But we’re going to get health care reform passed for the American people for their own personal health and economic security and for the important role that it will play in reducing the deficit.”   Delusional, much?  And look what 0bama admitted the other day…if 0bamacare had passed you would NOT have been able to keep your health plan or doctor:  So Maybe You Can’t Keep Your Current Coverage These people are outright liars and unworthy of our trust.

Here’s Some Fat To Chew On.  There are 400,000 workers who prepare and serve lunch to American school children. Scott Brown Is Finally Being Seated. The Dems were trying to hold this off as long as possible.  February 11 was supposed to be the date Brown is sworn in, but guess what?  He challenged this and will now be seated a week early – February 4.  Thank goodness – in the meantime Kirk has still been voting (even though the people spoke loudly and clearly) and some far-reaching legislation has passed as a result:  Why Is Kirk Still Voting?

More Good News. Looks like by the time November comes around, Scott Brown won’t be alone as a new, forward-thinking legislator – Time recently had an article that listed “Ten More Scott Browns.” I’d like to add an eleventh, and that’s Charles Djou of Hawaii.  He’s a conservative Republican running in a special Congressional election to replace Neil Abercrombie (Commie Neil has decided to run for Governor – joy.)  Djou offers sanity in a state that truly needs some!  Yes, it’s paradise but even this paradise isn’t perfect.  Does he have a chance? The Dems are already attacking him, so that would be a resounding YES!  DCCC Hitting Djou Early Djou is getting lots of national attention and was the topic of a recent National Review Online article.  And here’s the best part…Djou is running in the Congressional district that includes 0bama’s childhood stomping grounds!  So keep your eyes on this one, folks, and GO CHARLES!!!

Speaking of Paradise….The GOP was here last week for its Winter meeting.  They got some heat (no pun intended) for traveling to this far-off, exotic land.  Guess what, short-sighted critics?  Hawaii is part of the United States!  Frankly, I want to thank the GOP for bringing its delegates and dollars to our state.  I understand Michael Steele took the brunt of the criticism, so mahalo, Bro!  Fun In The Sun For The GOP In Hawaii I attended a one day seminar that was outstanding, and heard Steele speak and met many other talented GOPers.

And while the Dems were criticizing the GOP for going to Hawaii, guess what they did? They had a lovefest with lobbyists in swanky South Beach.
