ALOHA, ALL!!! Hypocrisy is the state of pretending to have virtues, moral or religious beliefs, principles, etc., that one does not actually have. Hypocrisy involves the deception of others and is thus a kind of lie. Not to be confused with Hippocrates or Hypocorism. (Wikipedia) The Obama administration is the epitome of hypocrisy. OK…yes I know most politicians are hypocritical. But Obama and his administration make all others look like saints. And here’s a recent example. Obama said this in 1996 about how the average American feels about political donors getting access to politicians: ”They can’t attend a $10,000 breakfast and they know that those who can are going to get the kind of access they can’t imagine.” Well Barry sure has changed in 16 years: Hypocrisy and White House Opens Doors to Big Donors ”Although Mr. Obama has made a point of not accepting contributions from registered lobbyists, a review of campaign donations and White House visitor logs shows that special interests have had little trouble making themselves heard. Many of the president’s biggest donors, while not lobbyists, took lobbyists with them to the White House, while others performed essentially the same function on their visits.” So step right up, folks! A mere $35,800 will get you “the kind of access you can’t imagine.”

Finally, the icing on the cake is a report from the New York Times that I just came across, which details how the EPA is fining businesses for failing to use a type of biofuel that is not commercially available: When the companies that supply motor fuel close the books on 2011, they will pay about $6.8 million in penalties to the Treasury because they failed to mix a special type of biofuel into their gasoline and diesel as required by law. But there was none to be had. ALOHA, ALL! I’ve been MIA this week due to traveling and illness (there’s a nasty intestinal thing going around….I know – TMI!) Anyhow, I’ve been forced to watch lots of TV and have been following all the top stories….Bibi owning Barry, Super Tuesday, Derrick Bell and more. There’s one “story” that shouldn’t be given the air time it has – this Sandra Fluke thing. Are you kidding me? A liberal, self-proclaimed women’s reproductive advocate (the co-president of Law Students for Reproductive Justice.) Don’t think this was a set-up? This from her Wikipedia page (which has been highly edited since she became a house-hold name): ”Before Fluke enrolled at Georgetown University’s law school, she researched the college’s health plans for students, and discovered that contraception was not included. As of February 2012, she has spent the past three years lobbying the school’s administration to change its policy on this issue.” Note: BEFORE she enrolled at Georgetown. Give me a break! Let alone the outrageous claim of $3,000 in costs for a poor struggling law student to pay for birth control. Or the fact that she’s 30 and still a law student…since 2008. Yes, it’s speculation but if it walks like a duck and talks like a duck…..don’t be afraid to see what you see (President Reagan’s voice keeps ringing in my head about 50 times a day.) Frankly, I couldn’t care less if Ms. Fluke is gay, but it’s rather disingenuous of her to be pushing for birth control pills if she is. Unless there’s a bigger motive, as the article points out. FACT: Nancy Pelosi was instrumental in getting Sandra Fluke to testify in front of the House Democratic Steering and Policy Committee. In fact, Representative Carolyn Maloney of NY thanked Pelosi “for bringing Sandra (Fluke) to this hearing and for your commitment to these issues that are so important to tens of millions of women and men across our country.” Why so chummy? When asked by The House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chair, Darrell Issa, about Fast and Furious on May 3, 2011, Holder claimed he only learned about it “over the last few weeks.” In fact, Holder was briefed on the plan in July 2010. Of course, he claims he was told of the operation but not the specifics. Are we really to believe that Holder – the top dog in the DoJ – didn’t get briefed on the details of the operation? Give me a break! So let’s say he didn’t know the details – that makes him completely clueless and incompetent! Furthermore, documents just released that show the July 2010 briefing now prove that Holder lied to Issa about when he knew of the program. “When did you first know about the program officially known as Fast and Furious?” That was the question – Holder lied in his answer. I say it’s long past time to get rid of this lying flunkie. HDR 190: Happy Labor Day, Unhappy Labor Numbers
ALOHA, ALL!! As we get ready to celebrate Labor Day weekend, how about some news on labor & jobs? Actually, it’s not news, it’s the same old bad stuff, trending downward. ZERO jobs were created in August. This is the first time since 1945 that we’ve had a month of zero jobs growth. Yep….nada, none, zilch. Today, The Heritage Foundation had a great overview of the current job situation: Unemployment Rate Stuck, Zero New Jobs in America Barry sees the writing on the wall – if these numbers continue, he’s toast. Actually, if there isn’t a big improvement in the unemployment and job growth numbers, he should be toast (but remember….he’ll have a billion dollars, the bully pulpit and million $$ busses to tour America for his re-election effort. Well, he’ll fly to the busses and then get on them for a couple of miles to look like one of “the people.”) So today, in a completely political move, he decided to pull back on planned EPA regulations. As you recall, Issa (R, CA) is the Chair of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee….the one that’s grilling the DoJ and Eric Holder on “Fast and Furious.” They’re also looking into the NLRB overstepping its authority in a number of areas. Issa & the Committee must be doing good work because the NY Times had a front-page article about him riddled with lies (and why are we not surprised??) Citing 13 Erroneous Statements, Issa Demands NY Times Retract Error-Ridden Front Page Story and The Foundry: Conservative Policy News Blog from The Heritage Foundation » Toyota Confirms Another Glaring Error in New York Times Story on Rep. Issa So who am I betting on in this textbook Alinsky attack? The good guy. Plus, by now everyone knows the NY Times isn’t worth the paper it’s printed on.

The Border Patrol station in Bisbee, Ariz., will be renamed to honor the memory of agent Brian Terry who died December 15, 2010 after being shot in the line of duty. Rep. This time, it was Cathy McMorris Rodgers (WA) hosting the call, with Darrell Issa (CA) and Blake Farenthold (TX) participating. My first thought: with all that’s going on in Congress right now, it’s amazing that these individuals even have the time to talk with us!!! The focus of the call was to talk about the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform (OGR) and the various issues they are dealing with, most notably, the “Fast and Furious” debacle. The goal of the OGR is to exercise effective oversight over the federal government and to work proactively to investigate and expose waste, fraud, and abuse. But they’re not just dealing with “Fast and Furious,” also the “Permitorium” on drilling in the Gulf, the NLRB’s overreach with respect to Boeing’s move to South Carolina, the thousands of wasted acres of federal government land sitting idle, and the Postal Reform Act. Of course, I was furiously taking notes throughout the call and also Tweeting at the same time (see a few of my Tweets above – ain’t multi-tasking grand?) Here are some additional highlights from the call:
- Issa (“Chief Watchdog” and Chair of the OGR) said the investigation of “Fast and Furious” is just the tip of the iceberg. The OGR is investigating all bad government policy. Issa informed us that many in the administration think the mistakes made in “Fast and Furious” were minor and that several ATF agents involved have actually been promoted. Mexican officials have been difficult to work with, refusing to show American authorities the guns they say are coming from the U.S. Important distinction: “Fast and Furious” (started under 0bama) is NOT the same thing as “Project Gunrunner” (started under Bush.) - Issa explained the Postal Reform Act, calling for $16 billion in cuts that will result in $8 billion in savings with no increase in postal rates.
- Farenthold is a freshman member of Congress and new to the OGR. He read the mission statement, including the two overarching concepts: 1) Americans have the right to know their money is well spent and 2) Americans have the right to know their money is spent efficiently and effectively. BTW – He described himself as a “recovering attorney” and former radio talk show host. LOVE it!!
- Farenthold told all of us bloggers “thanks for your service as the citizen media.” This guy GETS it!!
I wish EVERY American had the opportunity to participate in calls like these. I’m always filled with a renewed sense of optimism and REAL hope for the future after speaking with these dedicated Servants of the People. They take their jobs seriously and know they work for us….a refreshing concept when the lamestream media seem to only focus on the egotistical DC politicians who lie, cheat and say whatever they think will get them re-elected.
Good question: Why Is The Cost Of Illegal Immigration Ignored in Debt Debate? “American taxpayers spend $113 billion annually subsidizing illegal immigration and padding the pockets of businesses addicted to cheap labor. Taxpayers at the state and local levels bear the brunt, providing $84 billion in services annually while the federal government spends $29 billion. The latter figure is – incidentally — almost exactly equal to the interest payment on the total federal debt this past April.”
Wow…looked what happened while we’ve been focused on the debt! When I read this article I felt like I was in a time warp. WHAT THE HECK IS GOING ON??? True story? Not! But I do wonder what the other hand is doing…..
Alinsky is alive and well! Grover Norquist was Newt Gingrich’s Butt-Buddy For some reason, the left has decided to make Grover Norquist the focus of Alinsky’s thirteenth rule: 13. Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it. In conflict tactics there are certain rules that [should be regarded] as universalities. One is that the opposition must be singled out as the target and ‘frozen.” And ”Hence, Grover Norquist gets a bomb threat. If he’s really Gingrich’s butt buddy, does that make the bomb threat a hate crime?”
Boehner plan gets good marks. CBO Issues Good Prognosis on Boehner’s Revamped Plan “According to the CBO, Boehner’s cuts will now exceed the amount by which his plan would initially raise the debt ceiling. The analysis concludes that the proposal will cut and cap spending by $917 billion over ten years — slightly more than the $900 billion first debt increase.” Of course, the plan is now being “tweaked”in order to gain passage in the House. ALOHA, ALL!! So will Operation Fast and Furious (aka Project Gunrunner) bring down Holder and possibly 0bama? One thing’s for sure…this story and growing scandal is NOT going away. You know the investigation is getting too close for comfort because now 0bama and his minions are attacking Darrell Issa for the way he sold used cars. In fact, interesting how Issa’s Wikipedia profile tends to spend a lot of time talking about some of his past indiscretions. But the horse is out of the barn with Project Gunrunner.
